Karen Pinnella’s diverse healthcare background ranges from medical equipment planning and consulting to development of healthcare cost containment programs. Providing medical equipment planning services to over 100 projects, Karen brings over 25 years of healthcare experience to her role as senior consultant.
Ms. Pinnella’s diversified experience includes the following:
Capital departmental and facility budget preparation for both major academic and community institutions
Detailed equipment specifications development for healthcare facilities and medical office buildings including imaging, surgery, emergency services, critical care, obstetrics, cardiac, rehabilitation, PT, dental, and ophthalmology areas
Equipment procurement and activation planning for community, academic and educational institutions
Planning and specification involvement for several overseas hospitals integrating Eastern and Western technologies and medical practices.
Technology evaluation and equipment re-use planning for facility replacement and relocation
Utility coordination with building design as member of architectural team
Development and implementation of Client medical equipment standards
Prior to joining the Walsh Consulting Group, Ms. Pinnella worked as a senior medical equipment consultant for Coopers & Lybrand for over six years. Previous consulting experience includes procurement management including preparation of bid documents, negotiating with vendors and scheduling equipment installations.
In addition, Karen has been responsible for product development and coordination, program pricing and master client contracts for a cost containment firm specializing in utilization review and case management services. She completed an administrative internship in facility planning and development at a 170-bed community hospital
